Tuition masters requested to halt classes for 2 weeks

Tuition masters island-wide have been requested not to conduct classes for a period of 2 weeks from tomorrow (13) in keeping with the government’s decision, stated the Lecturers’ Professional Association.

The Ministry of Education decided to move forward to the first term school holidays to March 13.

This decision was taken as a measure to prevent parents of students from panicking over the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Speaking at a media briefing held earlier today (12), Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma requested private schools and tuition classes to act with sensitivity of the matter as the Ministry cannot interfere with the holidays of these private institutions.
